Do you need to worm your horse?

Do you need to worm your horse?

After all the wet weather last year, many pastures became contaminated with worms even when droppings were being regularly removed. Once it warms up again (hopefully!) this spring, worm infestations are likely to be a big problem again.

With many strains of worm becoming resistant to wormers, it is best to only give a worming treatment when it is necessary. A faecal worm egg count will determine whether your horse needs worming or not. What’s more, it can save money too!

With some wormers costing over £20 for one treatment, a worm egg count at de Boer and Taylor Vets will only set you back £12.50. Save money and keep your horse healthy at the same time!
